For the first time ever, the Children’s Book Council of Australia invited young people to vote for their own set of winners in the Children’s Book of the Year Book of the Year awards. Called the Sun Project: Shadower’s Choice Award this year’s winners were announced on 26 August 2022.
On Friday 19 August 2022 the Children’s Book Council of Australia announced this year’s winners. All books can be borrowed or reserved at Cockburn Libraries now.

When this year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia announced the Notable book lists for their annual award celebrating the best in Australian Children’s literature, there were a number of titles from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creators in the list.
