Hello, just making some enquiries about the justice of the peace. Do I need to make an appointment to see them? Thanks.
Hey Sarah,
You don’t need to book in to see the JP. Just come on it!
Sometimes there is a bit of a line up, but it usually moves quite quickly.
Thanks.
Hello,
Is it possible to get an overseas power of attorney document witnessed by the JP here?
The document is in Korean but I am fluent and can read & understand the document.
Just need to get a witness and receive an apostille.
Thanks.
Hey Daniel,
We’re not able to answer any specific questions related to the JP.
To save yourself a trip, you could call a JP to ask these questions.
If you visit the find a JP page on the WA gov site you can get phone numbers of JPs around your chosen area.
I just took a quick look and currently there are two JPs (one in Winthrop and one in Queens Park) who speak Korean who may be better suited to help you with your document.
Thanks.
Hello,
My daughter birth certificate which is issued in India is in Hindi, i need a photocopy of the same to be attested by a JP. I have a NAATI certified English translation available.
Will the JP be able to attest the birth certificate.
Regards,
Anil
The JPs who attend at Cockburn Libraries will be able to certify the certificate which is in English, as our JPs are not Hindi-speaking. Please take your English documents along to any of our JP sessions at the Libraries.
However if you go to this Department of Justice website:
https://www.wa.gov.au/service/justice/civil-law/find-justice-of-the-peace-your-area
and scroll down, you will see that you can search based on language, so enter Hindi to find a list of JPs who can help you with the Hindi certificate. You will need to call that JP directly to arrange a meeting.
Hope that is helpful.
I need two witnesses to sign a va power of attorney. Is it possible to do it at Spearwood library on Monday 7/8. Thanks
Hi Nora, we have regular Justice of the Peace sessions at each of our three Libraries. See above ↑ for further information and drop in at any of these sessions to have your document witnessed. No need to book.

Hey Jon,
We can’t answer specific questions related to the JP.
Please use the find a JP service to call a JP to ask specific questions or you can always drop in to Cockburn libraries to ask a JP in person.
Thanks.
