When this year’s Children’s Book Council of Australia announced the Notable book lists for their annual award celebrating the best in Australian Children’s literature, there were a number of titles from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creators in the list. The Shortlist for the WAYRBA (West Australian Young Readers’ Book Award) has been announced. The award covers four categories; picture book, younger readers, middle grade, and older readers. The books are nominated by WA students up to Year 12, and all students in WA are invited to vote for the winners.
