The 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature was announced on the 10th of October 2024. Han Kang, a South Korean poet and novelist, is the new laureate.
The committee recognised her “for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life”.
The fifty-three year old is the first South Korean writer and the first Asian female writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
