Children’s Book Week Review – I am a Magpie I am a Currawong
I am a Magpie I am a Currawong by Bridget Farmer has been shortlisted for the Eve Pownall Award for the Children’s Book Week 2025.
Could you pick a magpie from a currawong? It’s in the eyes, apparently. After reading Bridget Farmer’s delightfully illustrated, I am a Magpie I am a Currawong, I can confidently say that I can!
This gorgeous book is a great way to encourage knowledge of Native Australian birds, and to get children started on a lifetime of bird watching. It helps children, (and adults), identify different birds through clever rhymes and simple facts. The pictures show each bird in its natural habitat, and gives you a tip about behaviour, diet or physical attributes.
What a wonderful way to learn about our unique and precious Australian bird life!
