Back for 2023 and better than ever, the library is partnering with the Sustainability and Climate Change Environmental Education Officers to deliver some amazing events throughout the year, each school holiday we will get out into nature, read some books, learn bushwalking tips, and go for a walk through the area to use our senses to learn about the flora and fauna around us.

Weather is no obstacle, we will run rain, sun or wind so please keep that in mind when dressing: raincoats, wellies, sunscreen, and an umbrella might be needed and always make sure to bring a hat and water bottle. 

We aim to be somewhere with toilets, but we can’t guarantee it so please check the specific venue information. 

Manning Park – Wednesday 25 January 9.30-11am

Meet us north of the playground under the trees (opposite Azelia Ley Homestead Museum). Toilets are available.

We’ll be discussing the theme of Climate Change and Bushfires through the books and walk.

CY O’Connor Beach, Rollinson Road – Thursday 13 April 9.30-11am

Meet us at Rollinson Reserve, CY O’Connor (end of Rollinson road). Toilets are available.

We’ll be discussing the theme of Oceans and sea animals through the books with a beachcombing walk.

Yangebup Lake – Tuesday 4 July 9.30-11am

Meet us the corner of Parkes St and Tamara Drive. Toilets are not available.

We’ll be celebrating NAIDOC Week through the books and walk.

Baler Reserve – Wednesday 23 August 9.30-11am

Meeting place TBC. Toilets are not available.

We’ll be celebrating Children’s Book Week with some of the Notable books, and a bush walk.

Banksia Eucalypt Woodland – Wednesday 4 October 9.30-11am

Meeting place TBC. Toilets are not available and parking may be limited.

We’ll be discussing the theme of Spring and wildflowers through the books and walk.
