Kids Resources – COVID-19

If you need some help chasing down some great resources to use while your children are at home with you in these extra-ordinary times, we are here to help.

In response to what has been happening different organisations and people around the world are providing resources for you and your family.

While the library is closed we will be scouring the internet and beyond for things you can keep doing at home.

As always we have some great free resources that you can access with your library card. (Not a member? Sign up now for free and get instant access).

Walker Books Australia Activity Hub

There’s a lot of bookish fun to had across the web lately – here’s one place to find activities, teacher notes, videos and more from Walker Books Australia and our authors!

Walker Books Australia always provides resources for schools and libraries but at this time there is even more including: activity sheets, videos, and author content. The activities include books and character from Where’s Wally, Bear Hunt, and more.

Hours of fun with some amazing characters and books.

Do you want to know what viruses are, how they replicate, along with more? Then exploratorium is here to help, with lots of science activities you can do at home with a strong virus theme.

Scouts  – The Great Indoors

Normally, when we think about Scouts, we think not about being indoors but about being out in the world. But that is limited at the moment so the Scouts are helping us with some great activities to do indoors along a similar set of skills to what they may be able to do when the pandemic is over.

While we normally love the great outdoors, we’ve pulled together some inspired indoor activity ideas (if we do say so ourselves) to keep kids entertained while schools are closed due to coronavirus. Keep your kids learning new skills and having fun (and avoid hearing ‘I’m bored’ every 30 seconds) all in #TheGreatIndoors.

Trusty Sidekick Theatre Company

Based in New York City, Trusty Sidekick Theater Company creates bold, original productions for young people and their families. Rooted firmly in the belief that kids deserve theater that ignites their imaginations and makes them think about the world in a new way, the company creates work that is multidisciplinary, and its ensemble of collaborators includes artists trained in physical theater, puppetry, music, dance, animation and video projection.

To help families stuck at home, they have opened their archived videos. The videos cover a range of ages down to 2+.
