Christmas – it’s a special time of year – tinsel, baubles, giving gifts, singing carols, eating delicious food, catching up with family and friends and most importantly a good excuse to read Christmas stories, oh and watch Christmas movies.
This time of year is also a little sad for me; many of my wonderful storytime children are graduating to kindergarten (sniff , sniff), I do hope to see those little faces around the library during our School Holiday activities.

A wonderful joyous storytime was had this year at all three branches. We read lots of lovely Christmas books, sang songs and made a lovely gift to take home to place under the tree.

Dashing through the bush, in a rusty Holden ute, kicking up the dust, esky in the boot. Kelpie by my side, singing Christmas songs, It’s summertime and I am in my singlet, shorts and thongs. One of the world’s best-loved Christmas carols is given a hilarious Aussie twist.
I didn’t read this one at storytime  – but it is worth a mention. I have a copy at home, very funny and the Aussie twist on this Christmas carol is quite catchy. Have a listen for yourself below.

Father Christmas

(tune: Frere Jacques)
Father Christmas, Father Christmas
He got stuck, he got stuck
Coming down the chimney, coming down the chimney
What bad luck, what bad luck

One little, two little, three little Reindeer

One little, two little, three little reindeer
Four little, five little, six little reindeer.
Seven little, eight little, nine little reindeer
Pulling Santa’s sleigh.
Once you have gone all the way through try counting backward from nine to one- ’tis a wee bit tricky, (well is for me).
