Hi and welcome to my blog. This month I thought I would talk about spring. Spring has sprung and so has the warmer weather. It is the perfect time to go outside and look at some of the beautiful flowers that are starting to bloom such as tulips, daffodils and camellias. During spring lots of baby animals are born such as calves, lambs, ducks and swans. It is also a great time to take your children outside and use their senses such as:

  • smell
  • touch
  • feel
  • see

They can smell the flowers, see the colour of the sky, feel the sun and touch the sand. You could  plan a day out with your children to places like Bibra Lake, Manning Park and Coogee Beach. To see other parks and playgrounds in the area just go on the City of Cockburn website:  www.cockburn.wa.gov.au

We have lots of touch and feel  books in the library, which are great for letting babies and toddlers look and play with such as:

Lots of lambs by Laura Numeroff

lots of lambs

In the garden with the hungry little snail
in the garden

The rhyme I have picked is:

“Five Little Ducks”

Five little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only four little ducks came back.

Four little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only three little ducks came back.

Three little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only two little ducks came back.

Two little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But only one little duck came back.

One little duck
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack, quack.”
But none of the five little ducks came back.

Sad mother duck
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
The sad mother duck said
“Quack, quack, quack.”
And all of the five little ducks came back

I hope you enjoy the books and I look forward to your comments.
