HomeEventsKids eventsChildren’s Book Week @ Cockburn Libraries
Children’s Book Week is the biggest week in the library for children and young people. We always have heaps of activities, competitions, and run special sessions of our regular events.

Children’s Book Week happens in the third week of August, this year 20-27 August and the theme is Dreaming with Eyes Open. But it is part of Cockburn Libraries for much longer because Children’s Book Week is also the culmination of the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s annual Book of the Year Awards.

These awards celebrate excellence in Australian children’s literature:

  • On the last Tuesday in February the Notable list is announced.
  • On the last Tuesday in March the Shortlist is announced.
  • On the third Friday in August the Winners and Honours books are announced.
