The studios of Walt Disney are back. Finally!

After many misses, they at last brought their old momentum back and created Zootopia, an amazing animation fun for the whole family.

There was a time when the world was divided. On one side the predators and the others the prey. Thankfully, the world has evolved and in Zootopia, all mammals live in harmony. They walk on two legs, talk and wear clothes. They are civilized and like us have hopes and dreams.

Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) is the cutest of rabbits but she aspires at much more than selling carrots. All her life, she has wanted to become a police officer in order to make the world a better place. When she finally gets her badge, she learns the hard way the realities of life. Being the first rabbit to join law enforcement is tough. However, she is determined to prove that she can succeed. She takes on a missing person’s case but working this mission alone is impossible. Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman), a con artist and a smart fox is enrolled against his will. Can a predator and a prey really be partners? Will they solve the mystery?

Life’s a little bit messy. We all make mistakes. No matter what type of animal you are, change starts with you. ~ Judy Hopps

This movie is cute, witty and hilarious.

A detective story with a difference that appeals to small and big kids. Children though might miss some subtleties and this is why I would recommend it greatly for adults too. Zootopia made me smile and laugh. The script is absolutely brilliant.

Of course, it is not just jokes and fun. By talking about animal differences, the creators are managing to underline some more heavy topics as well about bullying, stereotypes, self-confidence and achieving our dreams. Zootopia is a place where “anyone can be anything” on appearance but like in real life, things are rarely that simple.

Finally, to tie all this greatness together, we can talk about the top notch animation. Technically Zootopia is spectacular.

Have a look at the Art of zootopia by Jessica Julius if you want to explore this wonderful world further.

Enjoy!
