eSmart Week 4-8 September

Being eSmart means knowing how to guard against security and privacy risks online, download content in a legal and ethical way, research and reference information, as well as manage reputation and relationships in cyberspace. eSmart helps to embed a culture of positive technology use.

The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, backed by an investment of $8 million by the Telstra Foundation, are working to connect Australia’s 1,500 public libraries with the eSmart Program and is already in more than 70% of libraries across the country.

Cockburn Libraries is currently working towards eSmart accreditation. Our Library staff will be trained to teach the community how to benefit from online technology whilst being savvy and prepared for the pitfalls – cyber bullying, scams, fraud, exposure to predators and inappropriate content. To achieve this we are asking our Library members to participate in this short survey.
