With Geelong’s win over St Kilda in the AFL grand final on the weekend, it would seem an opportune time to read We are Geelong : the story of the Geelong Football club since 1859.

The book presents essays on the founding of the club, the early beginnings, the exciting 80’s and 90’s … [and includes] in-depth interviews and discussions on 43 of the people who made Geelong who it is throughout time. From colonial heroes such as Jim McShane and Peter Burns through to 50’s premiership stars Bernie Smith and Peter Pianto and finally the modern day champions including Matthew Scarlett and Gary Ablett jnr.

This book was published recently as part of the 150 anniversary celebrations of the football club. It will be on the shelf at the library very soon.

You could also watch Geelong’s previous grand final win over Port Adelaide in 2007, or last year’s loss to Hawthorn which gave them the extra motivation to beat St Kilda on Saturday.
