…in the Younger Reader category, Diary of a Wimpy Kid  by Jeff Kinney, and in the Older Reader category the winning book is Terrier by Tamora Pierce. Norman Jorgensen is the highest ranked Western Australian author with his book Jack’s Island.



WAYRBA is a readers’ choice award voted for by the children all over WA .Readers are invited to nominate books that they have enjoyed. These nominations are then considered by the WAYRBA committee and compiled into two lists: Younger Readers and Older Readers.Young people are asked to read titles on the lists and evaluate  them as  ‘terrific’, ‘good’, ‘okay’ or ‘awful.’ To be included in the lists books must be fiction,  within the last five years,  and currently in print. Only one title of any author may be included on a list in any year.  Nominations for the 2010 award close this Saturday!
