(What’s a Thermomix, you ask? Where have you been?!)

We have a great collection of cookbooks using this amazing kitchen machine!

Two of these books are by my favourite Thermomix cook (and Perth local!), Tenina Holder  For food’s sake : recipes for use with a Thermomix and Keeping it simple : recipes for a Thermomix

She includes recipes for everything from basics to main meals and delicious desserts in chapters that focus on a particular flavour or meal.  Some of the many yummy recipes from her books that my family have enjoyed are curry and coconut chicken soup (with Tenina’s yellow curry paste), slow cooked beef chilli, French baguettes, passionfruit lemon curd, berry lime coulis (on Thermomix yoghurt), raspberry soda syrup, EVOO lemon tart, triple choc ice-cream and the absolutely scrumptious and easy cheesecake swirl brownie cake!

Another excellent Australian Thermomix cook is Jo Whitton with Quirky Cooking. Jo’s recipes are allergy-friendly – with gluten free, dairy free and nut free options – and so appetizing that those of us without allergies will still enjoy them. You can get a taste of Jo’s quirky recipes at her very popular website.

I particularly like her all-in-one meals which make great use of the Thermomix’s ability to cook different parts of a meal at once, and very quickly (such as sauce, rice, chicken and vegies at the same time for her Chicken and Cashews with Coconut Satay Sauce and Coconut Rice).

This week, the Quirky Cooking cookbook won the Gourmand Best Corporate Cookbook in Australia and will go on to compete in the Gourmand Best in the World Awards this year.

Cockburn Libraries also hold a couple of cookbooks by Alyce Alexandra – Low carb: recipes for the Thermomix and Quick Fix in the Thermomix. The latter was ninth in our 50 Most Borrowed Non Fiction Books of 2014

I’ve only tried two of her recipes myself (a delicious chorizo & balsamic fettuccine and her decadent chocolate mousse ice-cream) so if you borrow these books, please come and let us know what you thought.
