If cats could read…

Taffy obviously prefers reading ebooks

I have recently been acquired by a feline who aids and abets my reading habit by jumping on my lap as soon as I sit down with a book.  Two of my favourite things – a good read and a warm, purring stress reliever got me thinking, if cats could read, would they only be interested in the cat classics such as Puss in Boots, The Cat in the Hat or Old Possums Book of Practical Cats?  Could they empathise with the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland or Hermione Granger’s fluffy Crookshanks in Harry Potter?  Or would reading about famous catastrophes such as the sinking of the Titanic or Hiroshima (John Hersey) be their preference?

We all like a good whodunit so what about a good cat burglar story such as The Pink Panther or James Patterson’s 9th Judgement, or the famous crime-solving cats from Lilian Jackson Braun’s “The Cat Who ….” series.
The world of literature abounds with cat tales so with the help of a good library, problem sorted …. If cats could read.
So many books, so little time ….
