Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone star in Grudge Match, a comedy about two aging boxers stepping in the ring one last time. We all remember Stallone as the legendary Rocky Balboa training to the “Eye of the tiger’ song and De Niro as Jake LaMotta. It was only a matter of time until these two decided to make a movie together and reunite boxing legends.
In this sports comedy we meet Henry ‘Razor’ Sharp and Billy ‘The Kid’ McDonnen, two retired boxing legends. During their prime, they both won all their matches except one, Razor lost the first time against the Kid and the Kid lost the rematch. It was never decided who was the best and it still haunts them twenty years later. With the appeal of money, they decide to go into the ring one last time and finally settle the score.
Before watching this movie I was expecting oldies trying too hard but I was pleasantly surprised. They manage to make fun of themselves and it is brilliant. True, the movie does take some time to start but if you stick to it you will enjoy the moment. I am not saying it is the movie of the century, however I will give it credit where it is due. It is well written and funny.
