“Being active, having a sense of belonging, and having a purpose in life
all contribute to happiness and good mental health.”

This is the idea behind the Act Belong Commit Organization.  With this in mind, Cockburn Libraries has on display at Spearwood Library some of the wonderful creations of the Men’s Shed in Yangebup. The display is set up now just in time for Men’s Health Week 9 -15th June. The Men’s Shed provides a community space in Cockburn where men can get together to work on meaningful projects at their own pace and in their own time and to advance the wellbeing and health of men. You will find Cockburn’s Men’s Shed at 25 Marban Way, Wattleup.

Also during Men’s Health Week, Spearwood Library is featuring a free presentation by The Black Dog InstituteBreaking down depression and building resilience. The presenter will explore what mood disorders are, their causes and how to spot early warning signs, what to do and how to build personal resilience. Become better informed and equipped to identify warning signs and feel more comfortable seeking help and communicating more openly and honestly. It happens on Thursday 12 June @ Spearwood Library. 12 noon. Register to attend!
