A few nights ago I watched the movie Paper Heart. This quirky mockumentary follows Charlyne Yi across America as she tries to make sense of something that’s missing in her life: love. It was fascinating to hear the love stories that couples shared and to see some of them interpreted in Charlyne’s clever paper puppets. The personal stories were tender and touching. I wonder what WA’s only Harlequin Mills & Boon author, who is going to be at the Seniors’ Centre on Saturday, is going to say about love and about writing love stories?Nikki Logan‘s first novel, Lights, Camera….Kiss The Boss debuts in February. I’ve always thought that romantic fiction was a bit of fluff but I decided to give it a go. I’ll tell you what I thought about it when I finish. Nikki’s going to give some tips about writing Romance, but how do you write about a feeling that is hard to understand? I remember that when I first met my husband I thought that the air in the city smelt like fresh bread. I returned to the same city after we’d been married for many years. As soon as I stepped off the plane I recognised the same familiar smell. I had to laugh – it was smog! I’ve heard that there’s a formula to writing romance, let’s see what Nikki says.
