Book Clubs are the best!

Have you ever finished a great book and wished you had someone to talk about it with? What about joining a book club? It’s a fabulous way to discover new authors, and explore books with other enthusiastic readers over a cuppa. Book clubs are a great way to meet new people who share a love of reading.

Along with creating new connections, the access to new titles creates the opportunity for deep discussion to gain new perspectives, by reading genres and authors you wouldn’t normally choose.

In-Library Book Clubs

Cockburn Libraries have in-house book clubs at all three branches.

Spearwood Library: Third Monday of the month at 10am and third Thursday of the month at 6.30pm

Success Library: Third Thursday of the month at 5.30pm

Coolbellup Library: Last Friday of the month at 10.30am

If these times aren’t suitable and the weekend is better, there is currently an opportunity to start a Saturday book club here in the Library. Please contact us to let us know if you are interested.

Online resources

Here are a couple of great online resources to find good book reviews: https://www.betterreading.com.au/https://www.writingwa.org/for-readers/ and there are many more on our Library website.

Book Sets for loan

We also have a collection of in-library book sets, each containing 6-10 books. This is an ideal choice if you would like to host your own book club in the comfort of your members’ homes. The sets can be borrowed for an extended time period of 5 weeks. See below for the link to some terrific titles!

Virtual Book Club

If these options don’t suit, we have more! The WA State Library now has a virtual book club: https://cockburnlibraries-obc.freading.com/ebooks/details

An online book club is perfect for those with time or transport constraints. You can involve yourself in interesting discussions with others who have similar interests and taste.

The benefits of reading are many, with stress reduction, lifelong learning and increased intelligence to name a few!

Book Clubs add a richness and diversity to your reading experience, with the added benefit of a sense of community and connection.
