Marvel’s new installment is finally available on DVD. Guardians of the Galaxy is here to amaze us with incredible special effects and a top-notch humor only known to Marvel heroes.

After Spider-man, Iron man, Thor, Captain America and the Avengers, we now discovers new icons. This new team brings us an action packed deep space adventure. No longer on Earth, the plot takes us on an incredible journey across the cosmos with characters that are out of the ordinary to say the least.

Leading the Guardians of the Galaxy is Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), a space adventurer in search of fame. After stealing an orb, coveted by a powerful villain, Peter finds himself chased after by bounty hunters and ends up in prison. To escape (and save the universe of course), he is forced to work with four very different stereotyped inmates. First the brute, Drax the Destroyer has a lot of muscles, courage and the determination to avenge his family but unfortunately, he lacks in brain cells. Made out of the same mold, Groot resembles a tree and has a heart of gold. His strength and skills are unlike any others alas his vocabulary is limited to only three words.  To help make sense of what he is saying, Rocket Raccoon is always there. The smartest of them all, he is a nerd who really wants to be rich. Finally, Gamora is the beautiful, enigmatic and strong female of the movie.

After this simple synopsis, I am sure that you already know what is going to happen. The heroes have to win and it is without doubt that their unlikely alliance will turn into a deep friendship but I believe that the movie is well made. The special effects are incredible and you cannot not fall in love with Rocket Raccoon. Zoe Saldana has also changed her blue avatar appearance for a green skin and she manages to pull it off. However, this is far from being the best Marvel film ever. Maybe my expectations were too high as I was told that it was a spectacular movie. I agree on the action and the quality of the images but I have to disagree when it comes to the plot. The characters are funny but not entirely believable. One second they all want to kill each other for money and the next they are the best of friends.

I believe that it is good but not great. I am a fan of the Marvel series and I was disappointed. Give me the first Iron man or the Avengers any day but I don’t think that I will remember this one too much.

But please, see for yourself and let me know.
