Welcome to Gotham, a city corrupt to the core where no one can be trusted. The police department, the politicians and the villains are one and the same in this fast paced detective drama.

Batman is not yet here to save the day. Bribes, intimidation and crimes in general are common. James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), a young detective coming back home, fresh out of the military with righteous ideas is partnered with experienced policeman Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue). Their first case is the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. While Gordon makes a promise to Bruce to find his parents’ killer, Harvey knows better. Gotham is diseased. More so than anyone could have imagined. From then, it becomes a matter of solving cases without ruffling the wrong feathers. Indeed, no one can save the city if they are dead. But most importantly, is one man enough to eradicate the plague?

Whether you like the universe of Batman or not, I can assure you that you will love Gotham. Fans will be delighted by the appearances of  Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), and Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) while others will simply enjoy the detective side of the show.

Beware though, it is derived from a comic book but this is not kids’ stuff. Some scenes are quite gruesome and the plot in general is complex. Gotham absolutely exceeds expectations. This is one gangster tale that you will certainly fall in love with.
