I understand that a lot of people love car racing but I never got the craze myself. I do not know anything about the history of the sport so when I picked up Ford V Ferrari I was skeptical to say the least. Turns out, I loved it. I probably missed the subtle notes that real car amateurs would have picked on but nevertheless I had a great time watching it.
If you are a car enthusiast and if you are not, reserve a copy of Ford V Ferrari, you won’t be disappointed.
There’s a point at 7,000 RPM… where everything fades. The machine becomes weightless. Just disappears. And all that’s left is a body moving through space and time. 7,000 RPM. That’s where you meet it. You feel it coming. It creeps up on you, close in your ear. Asks you a question. The only question that matters. Who are you?
The pursuit of perfection
Henry Ford II is at a loss. His company is not competing on the same level as Enzo Ferrari’s. After wanting to join forces and being laughed at, he decides to beat the Italians on their own turf and see how they like it. He hires Carroll Shelby, an American car designer to build a beast that will win the extremely demanding 24 hours race at Le Mans.
Carroll Shelby and his engineer, Ken Miles will battle time and corporate agendas to defy the laws of physics.
All-rounder great movie
Romance, action, comedy, Ford V Ferrari has it all and it is carried out by an impressive cast. No one can ever fault Christian Bale and Matt Damon suits the role to perfection. If you are a fan of Outlander, you will also notice the brilliant Caitriona Balfe and even Jon Bernthal from Walking Dead is there to delight us.
The cars don’t go as fast as they do now but you will barely notice thanks to good special effects and camera angles. The tyres are screeching and sparks fly. You will get swept up in the race and won’t be able to tear yourself from the screen.
It gets even better when you realise it is a true story. This actually happened. It is very interesting to say the least. Intense.
