Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant is a very popular Young Adult trilogy written by Veronica Roth. In the same spirit as Twilight or Harry Potter it was certain that a movie based on the books will be made. Divergent is the first installation.

The story is set in the future, in a very different world. In order to work as efficiently as possible, society has been divided in five factions.  Abnegation (the selfless), Amity (the peaceful), Candor (the honest), Dauntless (the brave), and Erudite (the intelligent). Our hero, Beatrice Prior (played by Shailene Wooley) has grown up in Abnegation and when she turns 16 she is confronted with a choice. Indeed, the choosing ceremony permits each teenager to follow the path that they think is the best for them. However, once the decision is made there is no turning back.

To help them, an aptitude test is given. I don’t want to give too much away and I recommend you watch or read the books to know more. I will say that, of course she doesn’t choose the easiest path.

I have to admit that I am not usually into Young Adult series but I enjoyed this movie. I even reserved the second and third books so I could know the end of the story. My Harry Potter days are coming back to catch me.
