In conversation with author David Allan-Petale

Join David who will discuss his latest book Locust Summer with writer and mentor Laurie Steed.

Set in the WA Wheatbelt, this is the story of a young man returning for the final harvest and being given a chance to make peace with the past and the people he loves before it’s too late.

Locust Summer is a stunning debut novel that celebrates the wide-open beauty of the landscape, while exploring the heartbreaks that come with living on the land. It’s full of insight into how our past stays with us, wherever we go and whoever we decide to be.

David is a writer and former ABC journalist who wrote the book while travelling the globe. Locust Summer was shortlisted for the Australian’s Vogel’s Literary Award.

‘Authentic, true, and moving … this writer will break your heart and fix it again, all within a paragraph. A real talent.’ Ben Hobson

Laurie Steed is a mentor, manuscript assessor and author of You Belong Here.
