It’s time for another scoop on the latest and greatest anime titles we have put out on the shelves, and I ask you, when is it a better time to stay indoors and have a film-fest than in winter? We have the usual mix of brand new and classic titles, which cover individual feature films, OVA and TV series.
Let’s start with the series’. In case you don’t already know TV series are titles that are made for and aired on television. They usually run from approx. 12-13 episodes (short series) to 24-26 episodes (standard series length). Some series seemingly go on forever, though – like DragonBall, One Piece, Naruto, etc, etc. which are into the 100s of episodes and still going!
The complete series collections first:

This organization is known as the STN and comprises of several highly skilled craft users and experts in covert operations. But their most powerful craft user is a young woman named Robin. Her mysterious gift to summon deadly flames will determine the fates of her colleagues and lead her into a dark world of mystique and witchcraft.
Claymore – Collection

Human-Yoma hybrids of extraordinary strength and cunning, the Claymores roam from skirmish to skirmish delivering salvation by the edge of a blade… for a fee.
Space Dandy – Part 1
Summary: Space Dandy is a dandy in space! This dreamy adventurer with a to-die-for pompadour [that’s a frontal mullet hairstyle, btw- Ed] travels across the galaxy in search of aliens no one has ever laid eyes on. Each new species he discovers earns him a hefty reward, but this dandy has to be quick on his feet because it’s first come – first served!
FYI, Space Dandy graces the cover of the current issue of Neo magazine, August 2015 Issue 139, and has a lengthy feature article inside.
K-on! Vol. 4 – The last dvd volume from season one is finally here!
Summary: Yui is still sick from her cold, which is possibly attributed to her wearing a short yukata for too long. As the band tries to make do with Azusa as lead guitarist, can Yui get over her cold in time before the big concert or will the Light Music club have to do without their lead guitarist?
Naruto shippuden – Collection 19, (eps 232-244)
Summary: As the Leaf Village prepares for war, each shinobi and clan must contemplate the role they will play in the battles to come. While Naruto’s peers seek training from surprising sources, Naruto himself must confront both his biggest weakness and greatest strength: the Nine-Tailed Fox.
Fairy tail – Collection 13, (episodes 143-153)
Summary: Oración Seis has kidnapped Lucy and is using her to power a clock capable of spreading catastrophic magic cross the world. If Fairy Tail doesn’t stop the dark guild, the entire Fiore Kingdom will fall into a waking nightmare and their teammate will merge with the enchanted timepiece forever.
OVA (sometimes OAV) stands for Original Video Animation, and “back in the day” these titles were released straight to video – now to DVD and Bluray. These titles are typically quite short, relative to TV series, and are usually only 2 – 6 episodes long. Originally, OVA titles were short speculative series that, if popular, often grew into fully fledged TV series or feature films. These days, however, they are usually short side-stories exploring extra narrative territory or characters from existing popular series or films. Traditionally, the shorter run time meant these series usually had relatively higher production budgets and so better looking animation, but these days there is less difference, quality wise, between OVA and TV series.
.hack//Quantum (Ova) Collection
Summary: Tobias, Mary, and Sakuya are way into the ‘The World’. Together, they form an inseparable group, grinding toward the break of day and running dungeons in search of the artifacts of adventure. But when the trio becomes lost in this virtual labyrinth, a chance encounter with the mysterious entity known only as Hermit will change their lives forever. There’s an eerie darkness spreading across The World, and once you stumble in, you may never make it out.
The feature films:
Summary: Found inside a shining stalk of bamboo, a tiny girl grows into an exquisite young lady, raised by an old bamboo cutter and his wife. From the countryside to the grand capital city, even unseen she enthralls all who encounter her, including five noble suitors. Ultimately she must face her fate, punishment for her crime.
Based on the classic Japanese folktale, “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter”, “The Tale of The Princess Kayuga” is the strikingly beautiful culmination of decades of contemplation by director and Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata.
Summary: Based on the true untold story of the Soviet occupation of the Kuril Islands at the end of WWII and the trials experienced by the region’s tragically displaced Japanese inhabitants.
Road to ninja : Naruto the movie
Summary: Long ago, a masked shinobi unleashed the Nine-Tailed Fox onto the Village Hidden in the Leaves to spread chaos and destruction. But the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, and his wife, Kushina Uzumaki, sealed the Tailed Beast into their newborn son Naruto to save the village, foiling the shinobi’s plans. Years later …
“That’s it for your update, baby”
