Vote for the books that defines Australia
We couldn’t think of just one book that describes what it means to live in Australia, so the search has begun, for not one book, but eight (One for each state; ACT & Northern Territory), that together paint a picture of the Australian people and the land we live in.
Cast your vote online by clicking to the Western Australia page and clicking on the vote button next to the book you think best represents WA. You can also vote in person at any of the Cockburn Libraries
The shortlisted books for WA are:
- Cloudstreet / Tim Winton
- The Newspaper of Claremont Street / Elizabeth Jolley
- Jandamarra / Howard Pedersen & Banjo Woorunmurra
- Jasper Jones / Craig Silvey
- My Place / Sally Morgan
- True Country / Kim Scott
Voting closes on the 6 January 2012
The eight winning books will be announced at the launch of the National Year of Reading on 14 February, 2012, at the National Library of Australia, in Canberra, together with details of a competition for keen readers to win the collection of all eight books.
