Venezuelan cooking (and dancing)
On the 2nd of June, the Cockburn Libraries cooking session had a novel twist. As well as demonstrating the traditional Bollos Pelones and a Three Colour Salad, Venezuelan born Lucy Morillo also shared some steps of the Samba and Merengue. The audience who tucked into their cornflour treat were delighted by this spontaneous performance from Lucy, her family and friends. Lucy’s very simple recipe for cornflour dough impressed those in the audience who were looking for interesting gluten free recipes that are easily digested. This is the same dough that is used for other Venezuelan and Latin American dishes such as tamales, pupusas and tortillas. Thank you Lucy for sharing your culture, recipes and joy for life.
