Hi and welcome to my first Pram Jam Blog of the year. I thought I would talk about Dads and the importance of them in our children’s lives. Dads play such an important part of children’s development. The most important contribution is made through your every day interactions with your children. Some of the special daddy time to get into your routine is:
- Talking to your children – tell them stories and jokes
- Read with your children – reading aloud is a great way to spend time with your children. Read at bed time and try and make it a nightly routine. It will help promote language, literacy and brain development.
- Take them for a walk – you can take them down to the park and play with them.
- Take them to play group and school – get to know the other parents and teachers
Just by being involved in your children’s lives Dads become engaged in the lives and well being of their their children. There is no right or wrong amount of time dads should spend with their child. Just enjoy the time you spend with them as they grow up so fast! Children are more likely to feel happy and healthy when dad is involved from their early childhood.
We have lots of books to pick from and the ones I have chosen are:
The daddy rhymes I have selected is:
Hush, Little Baby
Hush, little baby, don’t say a word.
Daddy’s gonna buy you a mockingbird
And if that mockingbird won’t sing,
Daddy’s gonna buy you a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Daddy’s gonna buy you a looking glass
And if that looking glass gets broke,
Daddy’s gonna buy you a billy goat
And if that billy goat won’t pull,
Daddy’s gonna buy you a cart and bull
And if that cart and bull turn over,
Daddy’s gonna buy you a dog named Rover
And if that dog named Rover won’t bark
Daddy’s gonna buy you a horse and cart
And if that horse and cart fall down,
You’ll still be the sweetest little baby in town.
Dads are very special and I look forward to seeing you all and maybe some dad’s at Pram Jams this year.
