Exhibition: 11 August – 3 September 2015 at Spearwood Library.
Spearwood Library is lucky enough to host the Fireballs in the Sky Exhibition just in time for National Science Week.
From August 11 until September 3 visit Spearwood Library to discover why Western Australia is one of the best meteorite hunting grounds in the world. Learn how some very clever people from Curtin University are using a network of digital cameras in the outback desert of Western Australia to locate these meteorites. The Desert Fireball Network aims to photograph the night sky, over roughly one-third of Australia, and track whatever is coming through the atmosphere.
And why you ask…..
“Knowing where the meteorite came from, and what it is made of, will help us to address some of the biggest questions in planetary science: how our planetary system came into being, and how dust and gas produced a planet capable of supporting life – our Earth.”
Learn how you can participate in the awesome science going on in our own backyards!
