January holidays are ….NOW! (well..soon)

So today concluded the Christmas activities at all three branches.  We had a visit from a naughty elf, a visit from a very UN-NAUGHTY fairy (who liked pink) and had a bunch of ‘do it yourself’ christmas crafts including colour ins, cards, candy cane sleighs and recyclable christmas trees.

NOW in January we have a bunch more activities for you to enjoy.

If you go have a look in the kids events list (click there to be taken to it)  you should be able to very soon book into sessions (please book in, spaces are limited and also please if you need to cancel let us know so someone else can take your place) but stick with me and I’ll tell you whats coming up.

For the younger kids (3-7)

For the younger kids  that enjoyed the Xmas tree fairy we have a return visit by her…er..cousin with her…er..cousin.. doing a different show at each of the three branches.

(All the below sessions are limited to 30 children and recommended for ages 3-7 and will require parental assistance)

Tuesday 15th January at Spearwood is a visit from the nature pixie (with Rebecca Flanagn) at 10:30.
The session will include a story and then a craft making something out of natural materials and clay.

Thursday 17th January at Coolbellup is Maria’s music excites at 10:30 (with Rebecca Flanagan). This will be structured similarly to the previous session but with a msuical slant – the kids will be making their own musical instrument to take home.

Friday 18th of January at Success is Mary’s magical kites at 10:30 (with Rebecca Flanagan) and again will follow the same pattern but this time with a science twist and will involve the kids making a kite.

A crash of stories (2+)

Michael will be doing one storytime session over the holidays at Spearwood and Coolbellup (sorry Success people!) on Tuesday and Wednesday the 8th and 9th of January at 10:30

We will read “A crash of rhinos” plus some other favourites and then we’re helping to decorate some cardboard cut out animals that will be used at the State libraries art exhibition featuring original artwork from the ‘crash of..’ book. So go along and check out the exhibition as the kids will see some of the amimals they helped to decorate.

No bookings required.

For the school aged kids 6+
The remaining sessions will run at all 3 branches and all require bookings.

We’ll be making feltboards and felt characters at all three branches.  I know MY kids will be wanting to make a Skylanders or a Pokemon feltboard which they’ll be able to play with at home.  I myself might make a Spiderman board.

We’re also experimenting with mosaic designs and printing our own t-shirts using the hi-tech combination of paint and carrots.  Yep, we’re using carrot and other vegetable stamps to create mosaic shirts.  PLEASE note however you will need to rbing your own shirt.  As much as we’d like to we can’t provide enough shirts in all the sizes suitable.

Finally (and my favourite) we’ll be making our own monster trading card game.  Every child will create a monster, make their own card for it with powers and weaknesses and through the power of technology (photocopier and a laminating machine) we should have a set of cards for each kid that participates including all of the monsters that the ALL of kids have made. They will then be able to create stories, play games or invent battles with them at home.  Fun!

Phew! Sound’s like a good time.  Make sure you have a look again at the events list right here and book in now so as to not miss out!
