Challenger Tafe meets Spearwood Library
|Challenger students discover that there
must be 50 ways to pack a library bag
25 English Language students and their tutors from Challenger Tafe visited Spearwood Library on Tuesday, 19th April for a library orientation tour. They were delighted to discover that they could indulge in some ‘comfort reading’ of books in many of their country of origin languages. Not only books but magazines in languages such as Dutch, Italian and Croation are available.
Also of great interest was the World Music cd collection and cds by Brazilian, Mexican, Indian and African artists were soon being checked out.
The English as Second Language collection with its dictionaries and spelling and grammar guides was deemed a definite help with their studies. Some students who were having difficulties with written English opted for the many talking books on cd in order to listen to novels in English. The lavishly illustrated cookbooks were also popular proving that a picture is worth a thousand words.
The morning ended with a sociable cuppa – a very English tradition.
