100 Most Borrowed Fiction Books of 2013 (Part 2: #1 – #50)

So here’s the business end of the list of 100 Most Borrowed Fiction Books of 2013 (This year we have excluded YA from this list but given it its own list and it will be included in the overall Most Borrowered Books of 2013 list).

The six most borrowed adult fiction books of 2013

Lee Child’s A Wanted Man  was the most borrowed adult fiction book of 2013. The not quite most recent Jack Reacher novel (the latest, Never Go Back, was published in September 2013) came out in November 2012, so it was great timing in terms of sustaining its popularity over the whole of 2013.

J.K Rowling’s first adult novelThe Casual Vacancy, proved to be very popular in 2013 (the year in which she had her second adult novel published under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith). Yes, people are still reading Fifty Shades of Grey.  Last year it was sixth, this year it moves up to #3, with the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker  also making it into the Top 10.

After seeing seven Aussies in the bottom half of the list, we add another four in the top half, giving 11 Australian authors in Top 100; Tim Winton tops the pack with Cloudstreet  coming  at #33.

And now to James Patterson….
A ‘Most Borrowed’ list wouldn’t be complete without a bunch of  James Patterson books. We saw six books in the bottom half of the list, but overall he scores 22 books in the Top 100 (up from 21 in 2012), including three in the Top 10.
