100 Most Borrowed Fiction Books of 2012

The numbers have been crunched, so here we have it, the list of most popular fiction books of 2012, as borrowed by you (we included YA fiction in this list ’cause we know adults read it too).

Suzanne Collins, with the help of the movie release in March, improved on her 65th spot in 2011, with The Hunger Games coming out as our most borrowed book on 2012, knocking off, the still very popular, The girl with the dragon tattoo (which also had a 2012 movie release to help it along; the US version came out in January).

James Paterson doesn’t need a movie release to boost his popularity (although the Alex Cross movie did come out in November), he just needs a small army of co-writers. Patterson finished with four books in the top 10, and 21 in the Top 100 (in the previous year he had 18 titles in the Top 100)

While Fifty shades of Grey  was one of the most talked about books of the year, it could only manage 6th spot (maybe people bought their own copies, as we did have long waiting lists at times, and half of you that reserved it didn’t come in to actually borrow it!).  Monica McInerney was the highest placed Australian author, making it into the final place of the top 10 with Lola’s secret
